The Literate Gryphon is a individually owned blog that I have created for an outlet to give my own personal reviews and thoughts on books, media, and everything in between. I have debated the idea of this blog for a few months, but have decided to take the plunge and get it out there, both for my own sake and hopefully for the enjoyment of any who visit here. This is not my primary focus most days, as nice as that would be, as I still juggle the tasks of being a full-time university student alongside working a part-time job. That being said, I am still deeply invested in seeing this blog grow, and the audience grow alongside it.
The driving force behind The Literate Gryphon is my passion for all things fiction and fantastic. Like most of us, I often spend my childhood years enthralled by the worlds presented to me; whether it was the various planets of the Star Wars movies, the dark streets of Gotham brought to life in comics, the bright world of many manga series, or similar pieces of media. We all have a series or two…or a hundred (guilty)…where we get so invested and attached to the people and events within. Its this sort of sensation that I love being a part of an sharing with others. A inherent part of all of us is the fact that we all see things differently, and are subjective creatures. I may hate your favorite book, and you may despise mine. I love that. It is unique and makes every story worth telling and discussing. So while I will often look at new books in order to give you my opinion alongside your fresh ones, I will also focus on famous books that have been laying on dusty shelves for decades. They may not be new to you, but they will be to me, and thus I will hopefully be here to shine a new light on these works.
As this is a new experience for me, there will be room for improvements here and there. The blog’s contents along with the format of the website will be constantly improved upon and fleshed out, all for the best. I hope this will become a place for all of you to read my thoughts and chime in with your own, and hopefully spark conversations that have been long kept inside.
